Has anyone ruptured their discs in their back. I ruptured 2 of them about 2 years ago but lately the pain is becoming unbarabble and its annoying ask hell. Has anyone had surgery, if so would you recommend it. Seems like its my only play as ive had epidurals and they don't seem to be working.

My dad got surgery years ago for his, took 3 times to get it right and lost a bunch of ability in one of his arms. He doesnt seem to have pain in his neck anymore though. So Im sure if you get a good doctor that it will be very beneficial.
beat: The doctor sucked variance/beat: my dad doesnt believe in suing so he didnt get any money out of it. |

Where exactly in your spine are these ruptured discs?
How are these discs described on your MRI report? Mild, moderate, large? Central, paracentral, lateral? Bulge, protrusion, extrusion? How old are you? What have you tried to date to resolve this pain? IMO,epidurals are usually ineffective for these types of problems. |

Sorry to hijack this thread just, for a sec, but where do you go to get an MRI on your back. I'm 25, and have lower back pain, which keeps me from doing free weight squats, deadlifts, or bent-over rows. I can actually do the exercise, but I am in some pain during the exercise and the next day, and I do execute good form. I don't know what the problem is with my lower back, but I would love to get the situation resolved so I can do these lifts without any pain, not only for weightlifting, but for life..... Thanks

[/ QUOTE ] I've never had an MRI, but I think the process typically goes something like this: 1. Doctor refers you to a specialist. 2. Specialist requests an MRI. 3. Technician administers MRI. 4. Specialist interprets MRI. I could be wrong. I suspect I could find out, if I were truly curious. A poor option, but clearly available would be: "google: where do you get an MRI?" I'm reminded of our earlier conversation about HGH-- and I'm more convinced that you should avoid rather than seek out that stuff. |

You don't just go get an MRI, you go see a doctor about your back pain and he decides if you need an MRI.
99% of the time you'll get an XRay first because they're so much faster and cheaper and the docs want to see if they can tell what's wrong just from that. To get an MRI on most insurance plans requires an approval of necessity which requires a specialist. |
