oh dope. flying in the 14th/15th nov. snowbank and i think bill ivey will be going too. we're there for like 3 weeks, but if this macau thing looks good i can take a quick detour.

can any americans that have been to macau and or the hotel the tourney is at comment on how "american friendly" the area is? I know hong kong has a lot of english speakers.

I'v just come back from Macau a week ago,
about the english friendly question - out side of the hotel the people know ZERO english, not even basic words. (like telepone) |

(like telepone) [/ QUOTE ] i found that in hong kong (as well as other countries), if you compliment some very basic english with hand gestures (and a smile helps too), most people will be able to help you out. it also helps to be choosy about who you ask, like generally people ages 18-25 or whatever are gonna have the highest chance of having learned english in school/be in university. also dudes in business suits that arent really old are pretty reliable for speaking english. of course most people will just end up spending 99% of the time in the casino anyway, where it wont matter, but thats just fwiw. |
