Update on pokerstars and sharkscope?
Its been some time now since the banning of sharkscope was announced by pokerstars, but from the forums here and at tables it is apparent that the site is still being heavily used. Does anyone know of anyone who has gotten in trouble for using it? I haven't used sharkscope in over a month, but if I see people still posting stats and talking about sharkscope, i'd like to go back to using it as well. Has stars abbandoned their policy? Or has it not just been enforced and will be shortly? Anyone have any idea?

Re: Update on pokerstars and sharkscope?
I use it every day and I have it up while I play on Stars. No problems at all.
I think the whole idea is to punish places like sharkscope (somehow limiting their access, ect.) and not the end user. I don't think they want to piss off people who donate well over 10k+ in rake each year per person because of a website they visit. |

Re: Update on pokerstars and sharkscope?
from their website http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/prohibited/
What steps are you going to take to prevent players from using prohibited programs? We are going to look to see if any of those programs is running on a player's computer. If we find one of the prohibited programs, we will alert the player that he is running a prohibited program and tell him what the program is. We will ask that he stop running the program immediately. If he complies, fine. If not, then we will prevent the PokerStars client from running on his computer. This is their claim whether they can do it I guess remains to be seen, but it appears from what jimmy james said they haven't been doing anything. I want to purchase sharkscope again at the beggining of next month if this is the case. |

Re: Update on pokerstars and sharkscope?
FWIW, there's a "pending" beside Sharkscope in that Stars prohibited list. Not sure if that means they aren't enforcing it yet or what.

Re: Update on pokerstars and sharkscope?
How can they detect that Sharkscope is running anyways? I'd say at maximum they can see that Firefox/Explorer is being used, not a specific site.
