Perhaps giving up here is a good general rule, but for fear of being too easy to read, should this ever be double-barreled?

in my experince A hi boards are about the worst ones to double barrle as people tent to just fold with no A on the flop. So they generaly have an A to call you with on the turn. Since you c bet into two players it is even more like lyh they just fold with out an A. A triple barrle may get him of a weak A but I don't really think it is worth it here.

I double barrel here every 2K hands or so just to remind and/or punish myself: "Yep, this is still Ax and they still won't fold it."

What actually happened:

This actually happened at a 2/4 table, and I just cut the stakes in half to post the hand here. I made the $92 c-bet on the turn, and Villain called. The river was the T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] as the "hypothetical" scenario indicated. I instantly checked behind Villain without giving it any thought. He showed 55 and I took the pot.

hypothetical...

lets say we check behind turn instead of betting. given that we backed into a pair on the river, if villain donks river do we call?

what do we do if he donks a small amount, say 1/3 pot (roughly 50$ish) 1/2 pot? or shoves?

Hmm..that's an interesting question.

Personally, I'd say if he donks a large amount, it's quite possible that he was slowplaying a set. I really don't see a single hand where it would be smart for him to donk like 1/3 pot. I think we probably have to give it up if he donks anything at all.
