How football imitates NLH
Last eve BC played VPI in a great football game. BC had the ball in VPI territory with about 30 seconds remamining in the game and trailing by 3 points. VPI began rushing only three linemen, and BC with their excellent quarterback Ryan immediately drove down and passed for the winning score. The following poker analogy occurred to me: Rushing only three linemen, trying to prevent a score in a football game is analogous to softplaying a hand in NLH poker that is currently ahead but could easily get beat. Whereas, blizting or rushing 5 or 6 men is analogous to betting/raising in NLH. We all know that the latter strategy is usually the winning one. Football coaches need to take lessons from NLH players.

Re: How football imitates NLH
I can see not blitzing if you're up, and the offense has a long way to go to score.
This post was just like one in unl a while ago. The only difference was turnovers were compared to tilt in cash games. |

Re: How football imitates NLH
The screen play is like a small pair usually gets you a few yard or loses you a couple but if you break a big run (hit a set) you can go the whole way (stack someone)
