i have villain at 24/16. no real reads on him other than that he seemed decent at HU.

i know a lot of people are going to say "oh but he's going to see your little bet and raise over it with air!" but in reality that doesn't actually happen very often, imo.

I'm not sure if checking the river might be better, but I'm quite sure your fold is good. Check-calling a flush card and then donking a blank / straight card looks like either BS or a weirdly-played flush, so it's a pretty bad play for him to raise with anything but a super-strong hand on the river.

Looks good to me, its a flush a lot. There's no way he raises over with air.

i don't agree that he won't raise with air. i'm not saying necessarily that we are ahead of his range enough to call, but saying he wont raise w/ air assumes he lacks very basic handreading skills. it should be clear to him we don't have a flush here that often.

when you lead the river, what are you hoping to get value from? or are you just hoping that your dinky bet freezes him up from making a +ev bluff against you? as played i think it's a fold but i'm not really sure if i like the bet in the first place. if he is a good player he is more likely to turn kq/qt into a bluff than call with it, IMO, and a lot of his range beats you here. KT, QJ, hearts, sets, overpairs... i just dont see that many worse hands calling here.

i mean kq/qt is what you're hoping to get value from right?

ok, you would. but how common do you think it actually is? i think there are a lot of people who want to but don't.

if you think it's common, do you take a line like mine with the nuts (serious question)?

edit: or with AQ and call the shove?

A fake blocker with the nuts? It's actually a move I've tried before...they've always folded. It might work against a good player. And by good player, I mean a very good player who can shove any two...So...the top of 2+2 or aggro-lag/slag/tags.
