Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
That is the funniest thing I've read since all this started. Thank you, Mr Mark Seif. There is a film in this for sure.
30 Gig of data for one month's HH, apparently. (Can someone please check that for accuracy?) That's about the same as your average US teenage goth's monthly download - aka 'sod all'. Such a trivial amount of data, in fact, that it is actually more hassle to purge it than it is to retain it. In the interests of humour, I'd like to know three things. 1) Date of the 'conversation with AP support'. 2) Name of that member of AP support. 3) What exactly Nat received (screen shots, forwarded emails, transcripts, etc) I just love the bit where Mark realises just how cheap, simple and (just maybe) industry standard practice it is to retain complete HH data. I can picture his genuinely amazed and horrified face on hearing the awful truth. No way would he even suspect how much a hard drive costs nowadays. |

[ QUOTE ] C'mon guys. There is no valid reason to purge the data that quickly. [/ QUOTE ] Is there a valid reason for a poker site to EVER purge a hand history? RC [/ QUOTE ] More porn? In all seriousness, this problem is all over the place. Storage is cheaper than dirt, yet every company wants to purge information periodically. Most banks/credit card companies only have 6 months of information online available to the customer. Most branches can't see past 6 months, either. Granted, they at least keep paper records. Also, when something improper is going on, records are destroyed as quickly as can be somewhat justified. |

AP Support Guy says (11:08 PM): you know how we moved from sixnations to Kanawake AP Support Guy says (11:08 PM): and we made a major alternation to the database architecture Mark Seif says (11:08 PM): yes Mark Seif says (11:08 PM): i heard [/ QUOTE ] Why would Mark know this? (He has nothing to do with the opeation of the site, right.......) Why would some random AP support tard know this? Why would the clearly retarded support person assume that Mark knew this? A major *alternation* to the DB architecture? Give me a [censored] break. |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
[ QUOTE ]
FWIW, I know some people aren't going to believe the HHs don't exist anymore for Seif-gate. However, the story from AP support that they don't have the hand history from 2006 fits what I've been told before. Basically I had a partial tournament HH on my local hard drive and wanted to retrieve the rest of my hands. With the partial HH I had access to the tourney ID and some hands from the tourney -- so it was possible to easily identify the tournament, date, etc. Unfortunately, it was about 2.5 months after the tourney when I finally got around for asking for the rest of the history. After going a few rounds with the support staff, the final answer was they didn't keep the hand histories that long. So, I wouldn't try to read anything into the inability to retrieve the Feb 2006 hand histories from Seif-gate other than the sillyness in purging hand histories so quickly. I can only hope that in the interest of future audits and such that they'll keep the hand histories longer in the future. Jeff [/ QUOTE ] Does anybody else have any similar stories? |

Mark Seif:
[ QUOTE ] If for nothing else, to provide people who lashed out at me in anger in the heat of the moment, an opportunity to revisit and rethink that issue. That way, I can proceed with a clear conscience with any legal remedies that may be available to me. [/ QUOTE ] Man, I'd love to see this lawsuit proceed through the courts! I'm not so sure AP would approve of it. Mark, better get permission for this from your bosses before you proceed into the courts. Could be a muddy stream. If you decide to go forward, feel free to sue me, sounds like a fun ride. Oh wait, I was just kidding Mark. Please don't sue me. Seriously, don't sue me. I'm sorry if I said anything earlier that defamed you. In my eyes, you are super famous. More super famous than Phil Hellmuth or Dutch Boyd, or any other pro out there, cept maybe Jesus. I think Jesus is most famous, you are not as famous as Jesus, but that's only my opinion, you could be more famous than Jesus. I really don't have the right to say you are not. After thinking it over, I retract that you aren't as famous as Jesus. I just can't make that opinion on my own. I wouldn't want to lessen your fame with unsubstantiated opinions. |

I sent you pretty much what I received other than some email correspondence. The guy who he was talking to is some support guy in South Korea, I don't think his name is relevant. |
