I doubt all the people that are hating on the snitch have a whole ton of real life experience with the police. Everyone talks a big game about knowing your rights until you get detained for the first time and there's literally nothing you can do about it. Good luck sueing the state for wrongful detainment or whatever other happy frappy made up TV show horse crap you're spouting off about. If the kid didn't hand over his phone or whatever I'm sure they'd just take him to the station and make his life hell and threaten to arrest him for obstruction or impeding an investigation or whatever.

Also, in order to get my phone number they question and detained my friends. One kid is a poster here, so he can explain how they got it out of him.

False imprisonment FTW.

It's got nothing to do with respect for the police. It's got to do with actually having been arrested a few times and detained plenty other and knowing how far "I know my rights!" actually gets you in real life.

Whatever, didn't expect my post to be popular - just was kind of lame how everyone was piling on the "snitch" when his friend is clearly a jackass who got what he had coming to him (and a drunk driver).

First of all, OP was a jerk, no question about it. But second of all, you're wrong. The snitch was not detained, he was cashed out and then asked to stick around, which he meekly did. Then the cops asked to see his phone, and he meekly handed it over to them. He did not have to do either one of those things.

FWIW, I've had experience being questioned in a back room by casino security about my alleged BJ card-counting prowess, and how that was "illegal" in the casino. I admitted nothing, told them exactly nothing (not even my name) and said "I'm leaving now." It's as simple as that. Stick to your rights and you will see that they're pretty much always bluffing.

In the Foxwoods case they were not bluffing per se because they didn't actually have to do or threaten anything. The guy just rolled over immediately.

You are probably the same kind of person who thinks saying "no" to a vehicle search doesn't work. If you seriously think that a solid knowledge of your rights and the ability to calmly and confidently look a cop in the eye and defend yourself doesn't get you anywhere, you are sadly mistaken. I for one am [censored] glad my friends and myself don't cave as easily as you do. Believe what you wanna believe, but after being pulled over for doing 24 over the speed limit, me and 2 friends pulled out of the car and questioned separately about a certain "odor," with enough [censored] in the car to send us straight to jail (no "1st offense" [censored], straight to [censored] federal prison [censored]), and the 3 of us driving away with a verbal warning to "slow down driving home from guys' nite out," you'll have a [censored] hard time convincing me.

oh noes, a trip to the station?!!?!?

gosh, that sure would suck. No way id waste several hours of my life like that for a friend. No way no how!

I mean I'll drive all the way across the country just to help them move, I'll waste entire weekends in 100 degree heat in the summer helping them shingle their house, i'll get the [censored] kicked out of me in a bar fight just to have their back...but [censored] all if Im going to waste a few hours getting hassled by the cops for them
