Using this concept, you can assumably garner a seat to Macau for as little as 4630.

Unless I missed a step :P. The fact that 4 spots pay on the FT is the deciding factor

Lol macau is a $4500 package.

I've played like 50 step tourneys total and am on my 2nd step 6 with about $500 in tickets still behind, these are so soft.

GL, railing this one.

My strategy is to always have a back-up for the one you play.

Right now I have a step 4 and a step 3. I won't play the step 3 till I have a back-up step 3 if I don't advance. I won't play the step 4 till I get another 4, etc. etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that's a fine way to do it too; the results will be the same, on average; assuming your edge is the same.

Will pokerstars ever put out a steps format (like this) where the final step is just paid out in cash?

Party had them and they were great. Except after awhile they dried up... I think party had too many variations.

I think they'd be great fun if there were SNGs, maybe 3 steps worth. This gets lower players a chance to kinda step up and jump into some higher stakes SNGs with lower investment, but it's not quite as overwhelming as navigating through 6 steps (or disheartening to play again once a long run comes up short).

Any thoughts?

what's wrong with just starting from scratch 1 ticket at a time?
Get all the way up to Step 4. Bust-out. Start over at Step 1 or 2 again or whatever.
Is that really such a terrible thing?

really? Doesn't seem to make a difference to me.
Maybe even the other way for me.

Playing a bunch of Step 6's in a row after earning all those tickets and then coming up empty could really suck. Of course, if you played the 6A's then you're not going to come up as empty even if you don't win the package.

Because you're drastically switching BI levels.

Meaning you have to readjust more.

If you lose all the step 6s, try again. For everytime you lose every step 6, you win at least two out of the next 9, presumably.

I mean I set aside 25 buyins for the step 2's

I am just spamming the [censored] out of them trying to get as many step 3's when I am all out of step 2's. I am moving up to the step 3's. Rinse repeat.

Of course I am not playing step 6 but, rather than step 6a so if i get there I am pretty much guarenteed something
