Default AJ - Unsure.. too impatient?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (7 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

MP2 (t1665)
CO (t2850)
Button (t2950)
Hero (t1530)
BB (t1275)
UTG (t1575)
MP1 (t1655)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to t300</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t1530</font>.

I find myself in these spots so often.. Am I getting too impatient?

A few hands earlier in the SB I folded AQs to a standard raise... thoughts on that?

reads on co? If he's opening wide, it's fine, o/w muck.

Without a doubt!!! you have a LOT of time here - let the others do their thing and never call a raise unless you have a REAL good hand or are REAL desperate (like 5BBs or less).

I foldski. I like to be the aggressor if the blinds allow and it looks like 100 BB you got time

This will be sensitive to CO's raising and push-calling ranges. As long as he's folding maybe half of his raising hands, it probably works out. Given his stack, yours, and the difference he'd be left with if he called and lost, I think it's safe to assume a typical opponent is calling pretty tight.

It's going to make a huge difference what position the raise came from and what you perception of this player was.

There's no excuse for not having reads by the 50/100 level. Get a HUD or pay better attention.

My default is shove here, but like Slim said, reads are so important here because it's right on the edge...for example, I'd shove quickly against a 16/13, but fold against a 29/8.
