Re: in which i own someone then fold
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I 3-bet this river for value. [/ QUOTE ] monster spew. you call a cap too? even worse if so. [/ QUOTE ] Nope, pretty obvious why given my reads. FWIW let me recall DeathDonkey in his well thread. Q. What are one of the most profitable plays in LHE today? A. Raising a card that completes draws, you only need to have a successful bluff work a small percentage of the time. Yes this is a spew against a passive player, but villain is not that. [/ QUOTE ] So you want to 3bet a bluff why? EDIT: lol, every post I didn't read was along these lines but that's because it's true |

I don't like it -- bet the turn, call the river.

Re: in which i own someone then fold
hi guys, after thinking about this some i feel like i was wrong on the turn and i should have led out. one/two seems like the right number of bets to be going in there. given my turn play, i think the river has to be a bet/fold as i can't really think of anything he's raising there that i beat. but maybe i should have just gotten to showdown more cheaply instead of trying to valuetown so hard. my best guess is he had kqdd or maybe qjdd or jtdd. kqdd seems most likely though. doesn't seem like he had a set with no turn 3bet.

also i still don't really see how checkcalling the river is better than betfolding it.

Re: in which i own someone then fold
[ QUOTE ]
also i still don't really see how checkcalling the river is better than betfolding it. [/ QUOTE ] Because when you check-call you see the showdown. Betting will NEVER make him fold (see flop&turn line) so you will either fold or see the showdown for one bet. Check-calling always gets you to the showdown for one bet, so that is clearly better: it costs the same but there's a smaller chance of not seeing the showdown. |
