preflop: fine I think

flop: fine

turn: He has at worst three-of-a-kind, aces. This is a very good hands because it beats any two-pair or other three-of-a-kind, as per the little explanation card that came in last deck I bought. On the plus side, you are in position with a strong draw, so you can call his minraise and stack him if you hit.

river: He still has three aces. He's not folding them, and they don't beat your aces and eights, so you should not raise. You probably should not even call.

Don't like this hand.

Preflop: Depends on how villain plays post. If he never folds, I check. If he folds a decent amount on flops, I don't mind a raise.

Flop: Standard.

Turn: I take my free card. As played, obv call.

River: I just don't think people mess around on Axx flops enough to get stubborn with air, when they've become stubborn first.

It is close imo. Unknown full stacker I'd go with a fold, but unknown with some amount less that means he's not a full stacker (e.g. $75) and I'll probably go with it.

It is just a little weird for him to flat a big ace pre and then c/r on the flop.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with that due to the overcall. But even A2 is not that unlikely here. If you go with a sub-full stack here, I assume ur shoving here. If that's the case, you must be assuming a large number of FDs and air in your range no?

50NL

We are UTG with 66 and raise to $1.75 and get re-popped to $6 by the button (18.8%vpip & 18.8% pfr).
We have $77.25 behind us while the button has $54.35 at this juncture.
It is $4.25 to call and there is $8.50 currently in the pot.
We opt to fold.

What is the reasoning behind this?
Is it the position?
Is it the opponent?
What stack size do we and our opponent need in our stacks to play for set value?

I understand that we want to make up for the fact that we wont always stack our opponent when we hit a set, or the possibility that we may lose set over set. This will lead to needing better implied odds.

I thought to calculate if you should call a reraise with a low pocket pair is the amount you calling times ten and if that equals the opponents stack size you should call for set value? Is that right? So If I have to call a 4 dollar reraise my opponent must have at least 40 dollars behind him?

That's about right for most situations. You can bring in a few other considerations:

- As you mentioned, money already in the pot (If there are several blinds in the pot you can call with a little less than 10x effective stacks)
- Position (I like a little more implied odds OOP since it's much harder to get paid off when you make a set)
-Do you close the action (Sucks to call a raise thinking you're just barely getting correct implied odds only to have someone shove behind you)
- Reads (if opponent stacks off with top pair hands you can call with a little less)

Just sat so I don't have stats on the guy.

But, he's played every hand and already stacked me once.

He called 25bbs preflop with ATs and stacked me when he turned a flush and I had JJ. So, his range preflop seems to be close to ATC, especially when he posted out of turn.
