Standard calls or standard folds?
4 standard situations that occur in MTTs. How would you play these hands? I felt like all of these either warrant an isolation raise or fold because calling induces squeezes or simply a multi-way pot. Naturally the stack sizes are crucial in deciding what to do. How do you play these hands?

Re: Standard calls or standard folds?
i think these are good questions
1. minirepop fold to ai bc you are in ep YOU have shown strength. only ak are you beating if someone lays the wood to you. 2. fold hand strength is too weak. 3. ep raiser id call if i were you. buts its the size of your reraise i hate. you cornered YOURSELF into a bad spot. if you are repopping its 1/2 your stack 1500. this tells everyone including YOU im going all the way on the flop.you then must call a repop. 4. is the toughest. read dependant and depends whats behind me too. closer to a fold than call. i haven't put any money into the pot so i really don't like CALLING 25% of my chips in marginal spots. |

Re: Standard calls or standard folds?
1. just call, people behind you will be less likely to shove light since they have to show it down anyway, and your call from that spot shows pretty substantial strength
2. fold, one of the best hands I'm folding though...actually I'm thinking this may be a call, it's 670 to win 920, those are pretty compelling odds given what his range could be. It's another one of those read things. 3. standard shove unless the EP guy is crazy tight, in which case I'd shove anyway but not be quite as happy about it 4. really close, would depend on reads, without them I would just fold, although against a lot of villains I'd imagine a reshove is very profitable here. Calling is totally out of the question, it's either reshove or fold. |

Re: Standard calls or standard folds?
Hand 1: I think you can raise this up to 660 or something around there, it doesn't commit you to the pot if someone shoves over you, and sends around a mixed message. People would expect you to shove, this looks like you are trying to get some value out of AA or KK.
Hand 2: I would fold this hand, he pushed in pretty early position and most players don't understand M. I would not be risking such a high percentage of my stack in a hand like this. IMO this is a fold. Hand 3: This hand comes down to reads, what hands is he doing this with, my range would be JJ+ AK. I am not familar with the daily double but if it is something like a rebuy tourney this is a no brainer call. If he is tight then I may find a fold, but if you can see AQ here or 99, TT or see JJ and QQ then I am probably calling. Hand 4: In this hand I put him on 22+ A2+ KT+, QT+, JT. Against this range you have 55% equity, I would iso shove if he is an avg player, if he is tight I could find a fold. Please, convert your hands! |
