river decision, 2-5 at the bellagio
Playing 2-5 nl around midnight at the Bellagio. I have 550 or so in front of me, villain has at least 700. He limps a lot, sees a lot of cheap flops but seems smart enough post flop. Very aggressive. Dressed like he either was just out clubbing or was about to go.
Villain limps in utg +1, two more limpers, Hero calls with K 10 of diamonds in cut off, button folds, small blind folds, BB checks. (I feel a raise here might have been right, but it would have had to be very big to get the two middle position players out). Flop comes K Q 10 rainbow. BB checks, villain bets 15, 2 folds, Hero raises to 60, bb folds, villain thinks for a minute and calls. Turn 7 of hearts making two hearts. Villain checks, Hero bets 100. Villain deliberates, calls. river 9 of diamonds, villain bets $100. Hero? |

Re: river decision, 2-5 at the bellagio
I'd call. You're getting over 4-1 on your money. I don't like a raise since this board is a potential minefield. You're probably good because I would expect a bigger raise on the river if he had a big hand since he's aggressive.

Re: river decision, 2-5 at the bellagio
I think we are toast here a ton, but I prob make a crying call getting almost 5:1 on my money. I think he shows up with KJ/QJ/J10 type hands here a lot.
Also, rasie pf. Great spot to punish limpers in position. |

Re: river decision, 2-5 at the bellagio
After taking a few minutes I folded. I completely convinced myself he had KJ, and I couldn't think of a hand I beat that he'd take that line with. I spent the rest of the session kicking myself for it, though. I did wind up a couple hundred ahead so I wasn't too torn up about it.
I almost called based on the size of the pot, but I realized that if I had hit the straight $100 is pretty close to the value bet I would have made myself. I think I've given away a lot of money calling value bets when I might have been able to give it up if I thought about it a little more. I think what really hurts is when he left the table he told me he had q 10. Do you believe he'd play q 10 that way? It seems like a pretty weak play with Q10, but I'm inclined to believe that's what he had. Ah well. |
