Wow this is almost too good to pass up. If my box had the HDMI port I pretty much wouldn't have a choice.

i cant believe i have to defend my 1080i comment to you donkeys.....you see the xbox wont let you play in 1080p unlees you spend extra money( what a surprise) and get the x box elite. i bought my xbox right at launch and because of that i got a 360 that doesnt have hdmi not to mention the fact i got the 3 red rings of death WHEN I TURNED IT ON FOR THE FIRST TIME

ok so i went to best buy today to buy this and their ad also says "buy any hd-dvd player get 2 free movies" the movies had to be under 34.99. well they wouldnt give me that deal and the free heros. said i had to buy that dvd player which clearly is not what their ad states. also i guess i was the second one that day to try that. so i was mad so i left went circuit city and they price matched heros and dvd player and i noticed when i got home the clerk just took the heros dvd price off of the dvd player (+$10). so on my receipt i paid 89 for heros and 80 for the drive ( should have been 90). just hope that doesnt mess up my 5 free movies deal.

I think hawkz is acting kind of silly, but at the same time he is kind of right. You have to have hdmi to use 1080i, afaik, the 360 arcade wont have hdmi and therefore wouldnt play 1080p even if you bought the aftermarket hd-dvd player. Someone correct me if im wrong there.

Additionally, Last year I was wondering which system to buy. Came here, saw the 360 was the clear favorite, bought it and had the red ring of death within 24 hours. I returned it and havent bought another current generation system. Spending almost 700 bucks on something that breaks instantly is beyond disheartening. I had decided I would buy an elite when it came out, but I just never really got too excited again.

You can get 1080p through VGA. You can get 1080p through component for games. The arcade version 360, and all of the latest 360 packages for that matter, include HDMI support.
