Default 10NL KK and an ace flops. How to play???

He didn't 4 bet preflop, so I couldn't put him on AA. I put villain on QQ, JJ, maybe AK too. Ace flops and he bets weak. Have to call this, right?

After his turn check, I figured I was good. So I put him all in on the river. How's my play?

I would raise a little more preflop - to $2.50 or so. He will have roughly a pot-sized bet left in his stack on the flop.

His range is much wider than JJ-QQ, AK I would say. I would say its probably more like 99-AA, ATs+, AJo+. You have 40% equity against this range - if he pushes on the flop, you would have about 2:1 odds, more than enough to call with 40% equity.

As played, folding seems super-weak and he just committed 40% of his remaining stack, so I would RRAI on the flop.

I think you have to lead on flop. Otherwise you have no idea if his bet behind is an A or just a steal attempt. By 3betting pre-flop and then checking the flop it makes it fairly obvious that you have a big pocket pair that's afraid of an A. As played, I c/c river.

3 bet bigger preflop. 2.50-2.75

Check/call the flop. Anything in his range that you beat is going to fold if you c-bet. I think you played this hand fine. Villain's stack makes it pretty much impossible to get away from the river with the equity you have against his range.

I'd agree with the bigger preflop raise. I think around 3x his bet is good because it strikes a balance between allowing him to call with hands you beat and getting more money in the middle.

Originally I would have said that you need to CBet the flop around $3.

However I think CaptVimes has a really good point; a CBet folds out pretty much folds out anything you beat, but if he calls/raises you're pretty much committed to getting AI when you're probably behind.

I'll remember that =) sweet. Well played.

Edit: I think it might be a good idea to post the limit you're playing at in the thread title. E.g. 'NL10 - KK but ace on flop' or whatever
