new monitor problems

I just got the Samsung 245bw, its a 24 inch monitor. Anyways I'm having problems with this monitor, is it flickers or is garbled. I have had multiple monitors before, and it worked fine, the old monitor was like a 10 year old monitor and maybe a 17 inch, and it didn't have the problems that the 245bw is having. Does anyone have any ideas? I am working with a 3 year old laptop.

anyone, please it is really annoying. I have read the FAQs and nothing applies, I have searched the internet and could find anything related. Please help, if u need more information just ask, i will provide whatever is needed.
