Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
I'm not saying it's wrong at all, just seems fairly depressing when 2P2ers are agreeing that minraising a 300 bet into 1500 is the correct play

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
I agreed with a raise, not necessarily a min-raise as
an acceptable play...who said MR was the BEST play? Also, disagreeing without saying why or providing an alternative is not really helpful to the OP or to a strategic discussion...you are a good poster too! -ZEN |

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
I really like min-raising the turn here. Let him continue to draw to a hand or push back. River is a shove.

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
I like re-raising the flop. Get more money in when they think they've got a decent chance of winning. I think as small as he's betting after the board pairs, he thinks he's beaten at that point.

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
lol thats what i was thinking. Yea I probably minraise the turn always there. There is like no hand he folds to a minraise. Plus minraise just gets more money in the pot, and the more money there is in the pot the more likely he is to bluff the river or donk it up or w/e

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
too bad you can't check/minraise the turn. That would show him!...
I think a min-raise on the turn would be trying to provoke an agressive response, some people are kind of mindless that way. My thinking would be, "If he's lame enough to think c-m/r is a good idea, he'll probably think my m/r is weakness" Regards Gar |

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
thanks all...most of my moves in the hand were built on the premise he had air rather than even a draw...remember that he called a 4X preflop raise...my guess was a pp and I think if I come to life on the turn I risk him realizing AK is in my range...not sure but figured it was a good hand to discuss extraction lines

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
I don't think that minraising the turn is bad because at this point, he won't be able to get away from his hand; however, I think the turn is a perfectly time to represent a whiffed flush or a hand trying to blow him off because he has shown "weakness." The flop call to the minraise set things up.
Also, minraising is not ALWAYS bad, but it's really rare when it's good. This could be one of those times, and I almost suggested minraising to 900 on the flop. But I didn't. Because that would be sacrilege (think it would work?) Barry |

agree that minraising has it's place (uggh that even sounds dirty when i say it) but I think the turn is more optimal than the flop...

Re: hero flops top set and gets check raised...did I extract the max?
I think shoving flop is a perfectly reasonable line to consider. You'll get called by flush draws 77+ A6 and any K lots of times. Many many times this minraise is 77-qq and he'll think your shove is a bluff.
Edit: the times he folds you get the "don't mess with me" equity |
