Default $5 MTT - shoving 20-bb with AQ or 88 vs 1 limper

Often I will just shove 20BB with AQ or 88 vs a limper.

Because often if I just raise, the limper calls and I will miss the flop (with AQ) or there will be 2 overcards (with 88) and I continuaton bet and they call me and I hate those spots so much, I just shove preflop.

Am i missing much value in with just shoving preflop?

I think you're losing a lot of value shoving preflop. Depending on the stage of the tournament i'd raise 3 - 5 BB's. Shoving is probably the right move if you're deep in the tournament and there is a significant amount of antes in the pot.
