Dropped my cell phone in the toilet
So yeah, I had it in my hoodie pocket, went to piss, and it fell straight in the toilet. Luckily, I was able to retrieve it before I actually pissed on it at all, but it had definitely been submerged for about a second or so. I took the battery out and let the whole thing dry overnight. This morning I put it back together and turned it on, and somehow it worked. However, it says I have no signal/service. Is it worth it to try to get it fixed? Or do I just suck it up and get a new one?

Re: Dropped my cell phone in the toilet
My dad dropped his in the swimming pool. He did not open it at all, instead let it sit with ample time to dry. It was not affected in any way.
My sister dropped hers in the toilet. She tried to mess with it, and it got screwed up. She told Sprint that it malfunctioned and they gave her another one. Hope this helps. |

Re: Dropped my cell phone in the toilet
I've dropped mine in the toilet before. I just took it to bits, i.e. took the battery cover off, took the sim card out, and took the battery itself out and let it all dry on the window for about 3 days. Worked ok after that. Then I took the phone to glastonbury festival and it got rained on. Then it stopped working.

Re: Dropped my cell phone in the toilet
mine worked after this, but the screen was basically warped.
water damage is typically not covered by warranty. if you can extend your contract w/ your carrier, then it's easiest to buy a new phone w/ them, b/c you can get a discount. otherwise, they'll rip you off, and you'll need to buy a used one via ebay/craigslist/whatever |

Re: Dropped my cell phone in the toilet
My friend had one fall out of her pocket into a toilet as it was flushing at Indiana University, never to be seen again.
My dad is a drycleaner and he left his in his coat pocket when he put it in the machine. It was in a zillion pieces at the end of the cycle. |

She told Sprint that it malfunctioned and they gave her another one. [/ QUOTE ] A friend of mine had his phone go through a wash cycle (forgot it in his pants). He promptly took it to the store he bought it from and asked for a replacement as this one "wasn't working". The clerk opened the casing and showed him a piece of Litmus paper (guessing) inside - which changes from blue to purple when coming in conatct with water - the paper was solid purple and my friend was outta luck. |
