Re: Personal / dating / whatever life situation general advice thread
[ QUOTE ]
I am buying a 2 bedroom townhouse with FFK...we close in two weeks and are very excited. I need some advice about a "you, me, and dupree" situation and how to deal/lay-down-the-law. In attempts to keep my rage (and blood pressure) at bay I'll only say the following about Dupree (aka one of FFKs good friends and AEKDBet's buck-fuddy). Dupree is a deadbeat. Upon reaching a binding agreement on the new townhouse the following conversation ensued... ME: "Dupree will not, I repeat, will not make our guest bedroom her personal weekend apartment." FFK: "I'm totally on the same page as you." later that day... FFK: "LOLz, you called it." FFK: "I was just talking to her on IM and she said 'awwww yay!!! it sounds amazing. i will totally be crashing in your guest bedroom!!! hehe'" ME: WTF What's my play? I'm thinking the following... a simple face to face, "you are not allowed to spend the night in our guest bedroom...end of story". Details of deadbeat status will be provided only if I feel necessary. [/ QUOTE ] Two words, Chair. Threesome. |

Re: Personal / dating / whatever life situation general advice thread
this is absolutely a great plan as long as there is no thin veneer of friendliness between y'all that needs to be preserved.

I don't see how I can convey my message in a "friendly" way where it actually gets through to her. |

Re: Personal / dating / whatever life situation general advice thread
I am all for being direct in a nice way if you can pull it off, but there is a certain type of woman who will hate you forever if you tell her something like this, especially in the south (I am saying this because I am from the south).
edit: you can also get away with being direct if some bad [censored] went down between you and her and she feels bad about it. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm normally all for direct, but turnipmonster is right: this may be a situation where the direct approach will cause problems. Maybe a group discussion when she's around and you make it clear that you aren't up for frequent, repeat guests? Probably the type of thing that will fly over her head, or that she'll think won't apply to her, but who knows.... Maybe it's best just to do it now, get it over with, and let her get over it in time for the wedding? |

This is FFK's responsibility. The moocher is her friend.

I don't see why we've already completely discounted any possibility of a zany scheme
