Default Re: Al Gore Wins Nobel Peace Prize

No he doesn't seem to care about future generation - that's the point. If he really did then climate change is almost irrelevent. Possibly more than irrelevnt in that the future generations tend to do rather well from disasters in the past.

This argument is absurd on its face. Or, at the least, suggests that we should be actively causing disasters for the betterment of humanity. Who's taking donations so we can steer big asteroids INTO collision paths?

true, you do have to think about it a little bit to realise its not absurd. Then the suggestion you've made would obviously not follow.

Its a simple point I made which was about human ego and a slight abuse of language. Again:

When people talk in apocalyptic terms for most of the the consequences of climate change they are talking about a disaster for the THEIR world (THEIR world includes the future generations in rapidly diminishing importance becoming negligable within a few hundred years).

As I said they're correct about this because the lack of a jot of caring about people in 1000 years time is cancelled out by the fact the calamity wont effect these people a jot. The jots cancel out.

you have to work to see this as an attack on Al Gore (remember I'm English not American so while Paris matters I know little of Al Gore except he invented the internet) or disagreement with the scientists.
