Not sure how to play these strong draws at all...
Since I have no reads on their play and I wasn't the preflop raiser......I figure betting right out is the right play, but what if RR? Also, the turn i make a bigger draw but still really nothing, do i continue the push?
Also the river, I assume he either has a set or something very weak, like a draw or a pair that he played passively and i can get him to laydown.....opinions needed badly thanks! Re: Not sure how to play these strong draws at all...
Well an OESD isn't a monster draw. You have 8 outs, so you're about 32% to win by the river. I wouldn't be betting the pot, that sort of gives you bad odds. When you come to the turn, NOW you have a monster, but it's not really a monster because you only get one shot at it.
You have 9 flush outs + 6 straight outs = 15 outs = 30% to hit on the river. Again, that's a little less than 1 in 3, and I don't think enough to be betting the pot. It's about pot control, you can pump the pot with a monster (i.e. OESFD, Flush draw with 2 overs, etc.), but an OESD is like top pair, it's a mediocre hand. It can win, but you shouldn't be building big pots without a made hand. |

poneez, you are way too weak tight.
OP: Bet 3$ on flop, 75% on turn and betting the river is up to you...with 2 others, I don't bet it. HU, I sometimes do it. |

Re: Not sure how to play these strong draws at all...
How is that weak tight? You're telling him to play pretty much how I would do it. Not betting the full pot. Note that with your line he's not in a $48 pot, he's in a $33 pot.
That's pretty much exactly what I was getting at. I mean, you have two choices to disguise your hands: You can bet pot every time, or you can bet varying pieces of the pot and try to not let them exactly correspond to your hand strength. When you do the former you get yourself into spots like this where you hit "pot bet" each time and you're not really giving yourself odds. |

Oh sorry, by "betting the pot" I understood "bet at all".
Sorry |

Word. No worries. Yeah, heads up you should generally be playing the draws aggro, OP. I just think that pot-bet is a bit too aggro.

Re: Not sure how to play these strong draws at all...
I agree with not betting the pot, but I disagree with the reasoning.
With no flush draws, the board texture is dry. T8 is the only good drawing hand there is. I do, however, agree with the amounts suggested, could even be less. As played, I don't bluff the river. The only hands I can think of that would call the flop and turn like that but fold to a river bet are KJ, A9. You could be up against two pair, set, AQ, and I don't see these folding to a weak river bet. |

Meh, my only comment is that I think you should, as played, push the river. I mean, you're playing your hand like a set, so keep playing it that way...
