england do it again. Their front pack has been the key to the past two matches. I'm still surprised that they didn't get more then 3 pts from those two times that they were within 10m of the try area in the second half. I'd be shocked though if they are able to beat South Africa if SA makes the final

One of the most boring match of cup by the way.
England just got lucky. |

lucky how? France never really threatened in the final 22m though they controlled the ball and phases in the middle of the park. It really just came down to Wilko's foot and how he is able to captain england. If anything, this game more then cemented Wilkinson's influence and him as a legendary player

England just got lucky. [/ QUOTE ] Meh. You gotta be able to convert good position and possession into points if you're gonna win and France was just totally inefficient tonight. Still, I kinda rooted for France after that wonderful attack where Chabal almost scored a try. You know the one I'm thinking of. But kinda symptomatic that France wasn't able to get any points out of that. Also: Wilkinson still clutchest player ever... |

I was thinking about the first goal. Lot would have changed without this damn rebound.

He's a great player, but the extent to which he is built up is a little ridiculous. |

[/ QUOTE ] That last drop kick has to be less than 50% I think. Anyway, the difficulty of the kicks isn't what makes it clutch. Clutchness comes from the ability to make standard plays in high pressure situations, and Wilkinson has proved that he has the ability to come through in such situations. But yeah, he might be overrated for all I know; I don't follow rugby that closely. |

THere's a ton of stuff he does that is hard to see. you don't see that many fly-half's tackle the way he does and he controls the game great with the ball in hand. While his kicks in this match were academic for him, I don't think that Ollie Barclay would've been as precise and Wilko's drop goal was typical wilko. THe fact is, only Daniel Carter is as good of a kicker as wilkinson in teh world, and both of them make kicking look easy |
