10/20 6max, I'm in BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG (3900) - solid regular MP (3800) - mostly unknown CO (2000) Button (2700) - mostly unknown SB (4000) Hero, BB (2000) - TAG image probably, but maybe unknown to these other guys UTG: raises to $70 MP: raises to $220 CO: folds Button: coldcalls SB: folds Hero: calls? UTG: calls Flop [ 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] (Pot ~ $900) Hero: checks? UTG: checks MP: checks Button: checks Turn [ 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] (Pot ~ $900) Hero: checks? UTG: checks MP: checks Button: bets $325 Hero: calls UTG: folds MP: folds River [ 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ] (Pot ~ $1550) Hero: checks (intending to call anything, probably) I could see a preflop 4-bet or a turn and/or river bet as played being the most obvious alternatives to this line. just a weird spot all around. How would you play it? |

I would shove preflop. ( I assume they are not only raising the nuts preflop)
As played I would bet turn and river. |

don't like the call pre, unless you get some diamonds there's almost no board you're gonna be getting good action on. as played lead turn? a river bet is pretty worthless i think, either call or fold depending on villian. you said mostly unknown so i guess a call is ok but it's close.

Preflop you chose the worst of all options. What made you call?
Flop check is ok I guess. If it`s getting checked through your opponents aren`t drawing to alot of outs most of the time. Why didn`t you bet the turn? As played I would raise. I would like to here your thoughts behind your decisions in this hand as it looks totally messed up to me. |

I like every street.
Obviously PF is your biggest decision but once you call which I don't mind nearly as much as the rest of the forum, I think you played it out perfectly. If you bet the turn it would be with the intention of folding to a raise (I assume) and given PF, it just seems way too borderline spewy. You will get raised often with worse (semi bluffin clubs) and may get trapped against better (AA/sets). Once the flop gets checked through, I am looking to get to as cheap a showdown as possible. The value of your hand with PF action, lies in inducing more then being the aggressor. The ol' pull vs. push mentality. I had a whole post written as to why I like PF but for some reason I can't express it articulately or atleast without writing a book. But I do like it. |

[/ QUOTE ] well to be honest, it was a spot i've been in so rarely that i froze up preflop. i also don't particularly like shoving into 3 players who all may well have the nuts or close to it. I haven't done the math, of course (but why should I, how often does this situation arise?) My intuition says that if I 4-bet shove i'll either win $500 or lose $2000 (well, say, $1500, what with the equity and all). I just don't know what % they'll all fold. So, getting pretty good pot odds with my drawing hand, I chose to call. Yea its oop, but i'll run into enough dominated aces and can happily c/f if i don't hit a nice flop, so i think i'm in pretty good shape. When the king comes, I realize that i'm wa/wb and realize the way they'll put the most money in bad is likely by betting at me, so I gave them some chances. I think I can probably get in maybe 1 solid bet (the turn bet obv wasn't that solid, but if I c/r, i'm kinda stuck to the pot). I think a river bet would have been good, but again, it'd stick me to the pot. |
