Re: Never Again - Planet Hollywood on Tuesday nights
OMG, sounds like the only exercise you people get is from the lot to the poker room. If you guys are making decisions about where to play based on the distance to the poker room your missing the reason why Vegas became a poker hotbed in the first place.
If I played low limits I'd be at MGM every day of my life if the theory of tourists only was true. To make your choices based only on walking distance (if your healthy and walking is not a problem) is ridiculous. |

[/ QUOTE ] As I think about it, I think the set of local regulars who play at MGM tends to be on the younger and healthier side. Not positive this is right but I can't think of many 300 pounder or extreme geezer regulars at MGM. Howard is correct about Orleans being a very short walk. It rivals Wynn and which is actually shorter will just be determined by where within the garage you park. But I wasn't counting off-strip casinos in my list of walk lengths. I do play elsewhere, but the strip is the destination 19 times out of 20. Anybody have any home remedies for plantar fasciitis and/or a bruised heel? I've been suffering from this VERY annoying malady for about 2 years. I finally visited a podiatrist and he poked and prodded a bit and said "my diagnosis is that your heel hurts and these things usually take care of themselves in 3 to 6 months." I tell him "I TOLD YOU this has been going on for 18 months" and he replies "yeah, sometimes it takes longer--take two ibuprofen and don't call me in the morning." |

[/ QUOTE ] My boss has had that in varying severity for the last couple years. At times she has to wear the big plastic boot, like a walking cast. At times it doesn't bother her at all. I think she's gotten injections of the whatever it is that's commonly used(hydrocortisone?). |

Re: Never Again - Planet Hollywood on Tuesday nights
I am *NOT* gonna start riding around in an electric cart. I can walk about a half-mile before it starts to get very unpleasant, so I can get to/from the poker rooms. But it does impact considerably my ability to do things I like, like not get fat(ter) from lack of real exercise. No racquetball, no paintball, no walking and definitely no jogging for 2 years...I've become a blimp.
And the podiatrist seemed to recognize that I was a little ticked off with his time heals all heels advice and his parting words were something like "if you go to another doctor, DO NOT let him inject you with cortisone--that's the WORST thing you could possibly do as it will serve as a short-term quick fix but steroids permanently dissolve fatty tissue and that's exactly what's cushioning your heel". |

First, has anyone made a determination on whether there is a bone spur? If not, find yourself a good massage therapist -- they are used to treating this condition. I don't know of anyone specifically in Vegas but I had one for a couple years when I lived in Ohio who was a miracle worker. If you do find one and they work out, pm me the name. If there is a spur the last thing you want is massage but at least you will know what needs to be dealt with. |

Tonight I decided to play at Planet Hollywood. .... Some brain surgeon in Planet Hollywood management thinks its a good idea for Tuesday nights to be a free-for-all Karaoke experience featuring the worst singers you could ever possibly hear. [/end rant] [/ QUOTE ] This is funny! If you do go back, one day a week, there's a piano guy there singing worse than any of the karaoke superstars you got to listen to. I've forgotten what day that is, but the guy not only sang off key, but also couldn't actually play the piano - what is that about? It really is a nightmare... |

Anybody have any home remedies for plantar fasciitis and/or a bruised heel? [/ QUOTE ] I bought good hiking boots and wore them all the time (incl. around the house). And I took Aleve (sodium naproxin), which seemed to be much more effective than ibuprofin. I was able to play basketball again in 3-4 mos. and was pain free in 6 mos. Of course, I had no control group, so its possible that it just healed itself. |

Hum, I think this thread has derailed just a tad, LOL. Goes from Karaoke at PH on tuesday nights to foot problems.
