$16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
I got AK in SB and after one limper the button, a 6% ROI regular with stats: 16.7/9.6, made a pretty standard raise from the button.
I thought I was ahead of his raising rane (I put him on ATs+/AJ+ TT/JJ+), I was out of position and I had a monster. I thought a good raise would win the pot right away often and atleast give me respect if I c-bet on the flop. However he then reraised me and I was not sure what to do. If I pushed over I had no fold equity and would be flipping at best. If I called I had to call 290 for a 960 pot, which meant I had to win the pot 1/3+. If I just called and missed the flop I still had a workable stack of 900+. Should I have pushed freflop after his rereraise because of the money already in the pot? How would you have played the hand? What hands do you put him on? Re: $16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
Either fold to villains 3-bet preflop or decide that you're willing to shove any flop. It's read-dependent for me, although if it's the first hand I'm tempted to shove over PF and try to double up.
FWIW, I think villain's range tightens up considerably when he minraises your re-raise PF. AA, KK, QQ seem most likely, possibly AK/JJ/AQ |

Re: $16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
I probably would have just flat called the raise with AK oop that early in this situation. If I hit A or K - fine, if not I usually give up on the flop. If I reraise AK oop, it is most often all in. Because if I make a standard reraise, get called and don't hit the flop, it's just an ugly situation.
However, if there would have been no limper, a standard reraise PF looks good, as the guy is probably just stealing. But with the limper he most likely has a hand. After his rereraise it looks like he has a monster (AA,KK). People tend to make these stupid minrereraises just to tell everybody what they have. |

Re: $16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
Shove preflop with AK no matter what the reraise or what hand you put the player on. I have 14% ROI and stats to back me up. Gosta play aggressive in these, especially if you're multi tabling. Long run pay offs. Is this a turbo? Many players will raise and rereaise with any ace. Even though this player has positive ROI, I wouldn't fold AK preflop....PUSH.

Re: $16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
Risk whole stack at level 1 to a raise after a limper?
Do other people agree? Other ways of playing it? Thanks guys! |

Re: $16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
Just call pf. 3betting makes it so hard to play and then when he comes back over the top you're way behind and have to let it go.

Re: $16 - AK SB l1 vs button raiser
This is a weak strategy. If you're just going to flat call a RERAISE preflop, you might as well fold. You're going to miss the flop 60%+ amount of the time, so all you're setting yourself up for is to be outplayed post flop. He could have AQ suited or any pair 66 on up. If you're not willing to race at any point of a tournament, early or not, you're not playing for first place.

Then pushing a 75 bb stack over the solid player's raise is even worse. WTF is he ever calling with that you beat? Absolutely nothing. You are pretty much telegraphing your hand by pushing because there is no way you are shoving QQ+ like this as well. |
