Getting max value - what to bet with big hands
These are two hands where in each I'm wondering if I bet too much and lost a bunch of possible value because of it.
HAND #1 Villain is 46/17/5 after 150 hands. Is it standard to check behind on the Turn here? Party Poker - NL200 Stack sizes: UTG: $320.30 Hero: $334.27 Button: $212.70 SB: $228.35 BB: $226.45 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG raises to $6, Hero raises to $19, 3 folds, UTG calls. Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($41, 2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets $36, UTG calls. Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($113, 2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets $70, UTG folds. HAND # 2 UTG villain is 47/7/1.2 after 150 hands. I realize I should've raised more on the flop here. And I was really thinking the Ace might call me with the River shove. He's so passive I'm reluctant to check ...but do I bet the pot? Re: Getting max value - what to bet with big hands
Hand 1 I doubt you are getting any more value out of him unless he has the Queen or Jack of hearts so you might as well bet. Rarely will he call down with a card lower than a Jack of hearts.
Hand 2...I think I prefer a CRAI but I dunno, a small b3b looks good too. A good player will probably see right through the massive overbet push usually. |

2: think about the hands that call a push, the hands that bet/fold and the hands that bet/call.
