<<< Sees Raycroft starting, heads proceeds to asplode.

Despite the loss, getting at least the point was definitely a positive. Raycroft didn't have a terrible game by any stretch. Made a couple of awesome saves.

Again, good see the top line working so early. Everyone should also be expecting big things from the new 'kid line.'

Meh would have like a win obviously but we played a good game against a team whos better than us and lost in OT. Can't be that upset.

We will make the playoffs this year, which really isn't that an impressive accomplishment.

In my estimation, the Leafs are definitely weaker than:

Ottawa, NYR, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Carolina

They're definitely stronger and will finish higher than:

NYI, Boston

They'll be fighting for spots 6-8 with:

Montreal, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Washington, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Florida. They'll have to finish ahead of 4 of those teams to make the playoffs. As others have mentioned, it'll come down to which teams stay healthiest.

Toronto making the playoffs is not a lock by any stretch of the imagination. I'd give them less than a 50/50 chance.

These guys have me missing the Harold Ballard / John Brophy days. They sucked too, but at least you could count on a lot of scraps and a high first round draft pick (which we would eventually bungle).

There are some teams that are always one or two keys players away from being a "final four" contender. They try to address that through some key free agent signings, trading away the future for an improved "now," or getting one or two solid veterans in key spots.

The problem with the Leafs is that they don't fall into the above category, but have, for the last 10 to 15 years, managed their team as if they did. Thus, they are stuck with overpriced verterans, project players, lack of depth, and few if any upcoming prospects.

I know it's been said lots before, but the sooner the Leafs dismantle and build for 4 or 5 years from now the better. The ironic thing is that there only a few teams who could do this and not risk ruin, and the Leafs are one of them.
