Default Was this a good move?

I was wondering if I played this correctly.

Tournament Buy-in: $1+$0.10
Players: 830
Starting chips: 1500
Game: NL Holdem
Players at table: 8

Factors at time of decision:
- 16 players remaining (out of 830)
- Average chip size: about 60,000
- Blinds: 4000/2000 ante 200
- Several big stacks (100K+) on the table
- My position (chip count): last
- My chip stack: 16,000
- Player 1 in hand: loose, 130K chips
- Player 2 in hand: tight, 120K chips

2 questions
- Was my decision correct to call for the flop?
- Was my decision correct to go all-in on the flop?

I am in big blind.
All players fold to Player 1
Player 1 is four seats from the big blind.
He doubles the blinds, making 8,000 to go.
Player 2 (1 seat off the button) flat calls 8K
Everyone else folds, including the small blind.

My thought process:
- After posting my BB, I have 12K remaining in chips.
- I am last to act, so I know 4,000 is what it will cost me, and it cannot be raised after me.
- Read: I think player 1 has a small pocket pair (hence the small raise, trying to prevent others from raising more then that pre-flop), or may have trash cards trying to pick up the blinds either pre- or post-flop if someone does call.
- Player 2 probably has a legitimate hand, calling a small raise. Probably QJ, KT, JT, etc. I figure anything better would warrant a re-raise.
- My pot odds are almost 6 to 1 to call, (8K + 8K + 2K + 4K, + 1,600 = 23,600) 4000/23,000 = 5.9
- My implied odds are even better as it is doubtful either big stack will fold if I go all-in for 8,000 more chips on the flop.
- Biggest problem: my cards are horrible: 93o
- If I fold, after the next hand (being in the small blind), I will have 10K left in chips. Even if I double up, I will still be in last place. The blinds will eat me up very soon, so I have little time to wait for a good hand.
- My decision: Going all-in will do little to discourage the big stacks, so I call the 4K to see the flop. I hope for a great flop, but tell myself if I hit either a 9 or a 3, I will go all-in unless it is something like 9TJ, or AK9, etc.
- Flop: J94 rainbow.
- I go all-in.
- Both players call, and check it down.
- The turn brought another J.
- River was a blank.
- Player 1: A9o
- Player 2: TT
- Player 2 take it with Tens and Jacks

I was fine with this outcome, and felt I played it correctly, but when mentioning it to my friend, he said I should have folded pre-flop, as the card strength of my 93o was so bad. I ended up winning $6, but, the only way to have a chance to win anything worthwhile, was to try and make a move quickly. First place paid about $150, but even if I made the final table and went out first, the payout for 9th place was only $12.

So, what do you think? I’ve provided as much info as I can think of (maybe too much), so you can understand what I was thinking. All comments welcome.
