For the 750k more choices is always better so obviously an improvement. I think I'd opt for the PCA package if I had the choice. The PCA package costs more but Stars gets possible marketing gains. The $7500 is still available so no one can complain since they are not worse off.

----

If I'm understanding the second one $250,000 would be distributed by random draw for $250 to 1000 players.

I like the idea. It meets the criteria that all SNs have an equal EV which is all that really matters to me.

I'd love to hear suggestions for promotions for the smaller SNs that include the "wow" factor.

[/ QUOTE ]

I still think my last suggestion in this thread has the most "wow" factor:

My Suggestion again

But how about this:

Take the weekly 50K and hold a weekly "showdown" tourney where all Supernovas are automatically entered. One hand is dealt and the best hand wins the table and advances onto the next table and so on.

Final Table - Each player is paid $ 1,000.00

Finishers 10-18 are paid $ 500.00

Next 45 players are paid $ 200.00

Next 100 players are paid $ 100.00

And all the remaining eliminated Super Nova players are paid $ 10.00.

Guarantees all Supernovas $ 10.00 a week ($ 520.00) with a chance to win much more!

Alot more exciting than just buying a $ 100.00 monthly bonus.

Stars could keep replaying the showdown tourney all week, so the final table winners can bask in their glory!

(I did not figure the 50k exactly so payout amounts could vary slightly)

I think he means a grand prize of maybe $50K, with decreasing prizes down to 1000th place of maybe $100.

Sort of like a freeroll payout, but by drawing instead of a tournament.

If they keep tourneys then one of two things should happen.

1) SN should be able to opt out and get a bonus. The prize pool would reflect the number of SNs that did not opt out.

or

2) Instead of weekly the tournaments should be less frequent and larger. A monthly $250k or $500k every other month. (At this point though just giving people 3 Sunday Million Tickets would be equivalent)

Here's a little simulation I've been working on.

The following are reward percentages based on tournament play. I used tournaments because the rake and fpp distribution is consistant. The simulation uses .015 as the value of a frequent player point. Obviously how you spend your fpp might increase or decrease the value. It also considers all milestone bonuses, but not the points you have to earn to clear them.

As you can see, the rewards go up as you work your way up the program.

BronzeStar 7.5%
SilverStar 11.3%
GoldStar 15%
PlatinumStar 18.8%
Supernova 26.3%

So far so good. Then we move into the milestone bonuses and the 100k-500k range, which also shows a steady increase.

200k 29.4%
300k 32.1%
400k 34.7%
500k 37.3%

Up to this point, the more you play, the more Poker Stars rewards you. Then something funny happens:

600k 35.4%
700k 34.1%
800k 37.3%
900k 36.1%

Obviously the orange group should have more value.

A player earning 500,000 VPP should not be better off rate-wise than a player earning 600,000 OR 700,000 OR EVEN 900,000. It just doesn't make sense.

And finally:

Supernova Elite 62.7%

There should be more value in the orange group than there is.

That is why my proposed Supernova Plus program would be a good addition.

I think the belief is that most people who make >600k will also make SNE. I could be wrong but personally I can't see myself not making SNE if I make >600k.

But I do agree that for people who for whatever reason can only do 600-700k they do lose value.

Scottyy,

Seriously. Why would anyone want to play past 500k knowing that they lose value by doing so?

I guess if nothing gets changed then I will continue to give my 500k but not much more so that I don't lose my reward %.

Right.

I don't think I can make Elite, but I don't have any incentive to go past 500k so I'm not really going to try.

Other players have said this as well (and not just in the "internet" forum).

If anything they should take a little bit of value from Elite (I think it was 62% or so) and distribute it somewhere in the 500k-900k range. Or just throw some more money into the program.

This has been discussed before BTW.

I thought setting up a new tier (Supernova+) would be a "fun" way of addressing this issue.

If that idea is not well liked, there is the other idea I had of killing the $7.5k bonus at 750k and adding 2 5k bonuses; one at 600k or 625k and the other at 750k or 800k.

My proposal is really just a drawing in the form of a "showdown tourney" just to add a little excitement.

My proposal also would guarantee every SN $ 10.00 bucks a week ($ 520.00) so there would be no need to opt out of the "showdown tourney" (drawing).

To further spread the value there could be a rule if you finished in one of the top money spots, you would not be entered in the next one or several "showdown tournies" (drawings).

For example,

if you won $ 100.00, you would be out of next week's "showdown tourney" (drawing)

winning $ 200.00 would eliminate you from playing in the next two tournies (drawings)

winning $ 500.00 would eliminate you from the next three tournies (drawings)

and winning $ 1,000.00 would eliminate you from the next four...

No matter where you put the milestones, somebody who stops just before one of them is going to lose value.
