A bit out of the ordinary...
So I'm dealing a 1/2 NL cash game tonight and one of the more improbable things I've ever seen occurs and I probably wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes. In the course of 10.5 hours, (we'll say 350 hands) the flop brought 3 of a kind SIX TIMES. Not trips by the river, but the FLOP was all 3 of the same card. Keep in mind that the 350 hands is obviously an estimate and a flop was not seen on every hand. Any easy calculations as to the odds of this happening? Thanks

Re: A bit out of the ordinary...
[*] The probability of 3 random cards having the same rank is 13*C(4,3)/C(52,3) = 52/22100 = 1/425.
The probability of this happening at least 6 times within 350 trials is 1-B(0,350,1/425)-...-B(6,350,1/425) ~ 1/42083 |
