Default Calling pushes with pairs.

There are 4 players left in a SNG, one large stack, you (BB) and LB have ~10xBB stacks, and there is one ~8xBB stack. The LB pushes. (LB is competant player, his range is wide here, possibly even any two since it is the bubble).

A) Are you calling 22 here? And if not, how high of a pair would you need?

B) if you *knew* his range was the bottom 96% of hands (top 4% he gets tricky with), does this change anything?

C) Would this range change if there were 6 players left? What about 3?

I'm probably not calling here. At best your a 50/50, and your even an underdog to some unpaired hands. I would of course move with it myself if acting first.
With 6 players left i'm a little more likely to call if i'm starting to get pretty short. It all really depends on the table. (how aggressive/passive). 3 handed I definately call.

The only hand you're a big favorite over is an unpaired hand with a 2 in it. You have ZERO folding equity, since the other player pushed already. You are either a coin flip to win, or are dominated. You still have ~10xBB, with another short stack and a large stack looming.

Easy fold.

I think his question was more what pair would it take to call here. In the late stages of STTs, you're looking for fold equity. As such, when you still have a comfortable stack (10BB is healthy), you're still very tight when it comes to calling.

Depending on buy-in, I fold AJ and 77.

A) 55+ vs ATC, 55-77+ vs regs depending on reads.

B) Doesn't change much in this case.

C) Your opponents ranges should change with the number of players and so should yours. Can't really be to precise here without stacksizes, etc.
