Re: I don\'t feel like waiting until tomorrow night- NFL POWER RANKINGS
[ QUOTE ]
Detroit is ranked 18th in DVOA and 23rd in Sagarin, so no, beating Detroit doesn't help Philly much. What does help them is the massive margin of victory. Despite being 1-3, Philly has a positive point margin for the season because of that game, which is why their DVOA/Sagarin rankings are higher than you would expect for a 1-3 team. [/ QUOTE ] Don't forget that the other reason they have a positive point spread is that they haven't been blown out in any of their losses, which is another good indicator for the future. I know we went through this last year, but again, if the Eagles don't muff one or two of those punts against GB, they are 2-2 instead of 1-3. Does that make them a better team: No Would Assani place them higher in his rankings: Yes |

Re: I don\'t feel like waiting until tomorrow night- NFL POWER RANKINGS
Trust me, i hate "just wins games" as much as the next guy, but VY does it. I'll almost chalk it up to "lucky." But "good defense" didn't win them five of their last six last season. So call it what you want, but VY is a gamer. I never would of thought I would be defending VY.

Re: I don\'t feel like waiting until tomorrow night- NFL POWER RANKINGS
[ QUOTE ]
I love it. One bad game and a ton of people think Dallas (unbeaten) is terrible, while Pittsburgh somehow is the consensus for being the number 3 team, even after losing to Arizona. Power rankings aren't a list of who played the best that weekend people. [/ QUOTE ] I'd pick the Steelers over the Cowboys on a neutral field right now, easy. And not because i think the Cowboys are terrible. I just think the Pats, Colts, and Steelers are a step up from anybody else. |

Like everybody else, I think the Patriots are best team right now. But if we go by strength of schedule then Indy is the best and the Cowboys and NE are about even.

I mean, looking purely at wins and losses, sure, but when you factor in pretty relevant information, it becomes clear that the Pats have played better than the Colts, and in fact, you could make the argument that the Steelers have as well. |

DVOA NE: 68% IND: 51% PIT: 39% DAL: 36% [/ QUOTE ] I'm surprised Pitt isn't a little higher, although I would still expect them to be below Indy. Does DVOA deal mostly with yards gained/allowed? |
