Clicking sound from a new harddrive
Ok, I'm still trying to troubleshoot my problem from this thread.
I opened up my machine and heard a clicking sound from the harddrive. I know clicking from the hd is always bad so I went to best buy and bought a brand new one. Installed it but it still makes the same sound. So my question is, what could make a brand new harddrive click? |

Re: Clicking sound from a new harddrive
Crap, it's not the harddrive. I disconnected the harddrive and powered up for a sec and I still heard it. What else can make a clicking sound?

Re: Clicking sound from a new harddrive
Could very well be a fan. If you slow the fan down by pressing on the center (SAM!) or by tapping a pen against it, the noise should change in some fashion if the fan is the issue. Check your powersupply, case, video card, motherboard fans.
