Default Am I being to conservative?

My BR is currently just under 5k, but I can't being myself to play anything over 2-4. I generally play up to 4 tables at once. Can anyone offer any advice on moving up?

Quit being a wuss and just do it? :P

You have over 1200BBs for 2/4 man. You have 500BB to play 5/10 which IMO is still being conservative. If I was you I would just practice good table selection and play whatever good 2/4, 3/6, 5/10 tables are available, and sometimes take shots at 8/16 if the game looks good.

What is a good reference number to move back down if I start losing?

500BB is more than enough for whatever level you're playing. If you're super worried about it then just don't go below 500BB for 2/4 ($2000). If you're a winning player at 2/4, then you shouldn't find that big of a difference in 3/6 and 5/10.

Stop thinking of games as a 1-2 game, a 2-4 game or a 3-6 game.

Start thinking of them as a 25% vpip/6 big bet game, or a 30%/7BB game.

If there is a certain game composition that you feel comfortable in, and you see that composition at a higher limit, then take a shot at it.

I kept this form some other forum here this year from the man. Pretty good stuff. The first line is harsh sounding but I think it is on the mark for anybody.

"I completely agree that those who never push themselves past their comfort level are somewhat sad cases. If you can afford it, play in higher games than you are used to if for no other reason than it will help your game. If things work out you just may move up the stakes ladder for good. Don't just think of poker as a steady job if there is any chance at all you have not reached your peak"
