I had never played him before, in total I got 62 hands on him &amp; he was 50/26/1. He made pot sized bets at scare cards / cards he was representing ( flushes hitting ... ) I never had anything good enough to call him so never got a read if he was bluffing or value betting ... I should have paid for the information at some point

I've been calling a lot more lately on these big pot sized bets on the river and more than 75% of the time, they are bluffs. I call here quickly because I'm a station. You beat 9/10 and a busted flush

well you beat 9T, assuming he doesn't call the turn with gutshots, and there isn't really enough reason for him to be turning 8X into a bluff

If my opponent has play straightfoward to this point, then I would give him credit for a hand and fold. I just don't like making these hero calls and would rather just wait for a better spot.

Perhaps if the river was a non spade ace , then a call may not be bad .

no empirical evidence (or spelling skills) on my part, i normally find this to be a flush.
