Re: Why so many tables?
For some reason I'm able to concentrate more and have better reads when i'm playing 12 tables of 6max. Anything less and I get bored and play a lot worse. I usually play 25-30 SnG's at a time since it's 10 handed and I'm folding most hands.

The more tables you play generally the tighter you will play as well.

Re: Why so many tables?
if i play one table i just get bored and try and outplay people almost every hand... I rather tighten my play...play less hands at 6 tables than play terribly at 1-2...you get to see ALOT more hands in an hour playing 6-8 tables than 1 or 2

Re: Why so many tables?
i've never played more than 4 tables. 4 fit nicely on my 15" notebook with just a tad of overlap (i gots to increase them a bit for the PAHUD stats to show up normal). was playing 5/10 LHE FR until a huge downswing ocurred. more tables can mean less variance but if you choke on 4 tables then your screwed with a big loss day - or two or three.
moved to NL10 to change things up and now play only two tables of 25NL. seems to work nicely but i find i do get bored or 'sidetracked' every now and then. might add a third but i doubt it. 2 are showing a nice profit so far. play one table until you feel good and are beating it nicely and then toss in another if you feel like it. no 2p2 law says you have to play 12-16 tables plus a couple of tournies. one table is good if you're winning. enjoy yourself. God, I wish boredom were my problem. It is more like slow brain/hand/eye co-ordination.

Re: Why so many tables?
[ QUOTE ]
Just give it a shot and try to play two tables at once. When I first started playing, I thought that I was just too ADD to play more than one table at a time. I thought the pros multi-ed up to four tables, just because they were pros. Then I just decided to try - I played two 10-person SNG's at the same time. Before either game was over, I was like, "Oh my God, why haven't I done this before?" Just like moving up in stakes in poker - move up when you are ready - start with two tables, and when you can handle that, move up one more table. Personally, I multi-table 3 at a time now, because that is all my 15" LCD and I can handle. But like other have already said, 9-12 tables is possible, and I've seen pictures of the multi-tabler's paradise of three 21" LCD's side-by-side, all with 4 tables each. Re: Why so many tables?
Its easy to play 2-4 tables once you are comfortable with the level you are playing at. The only difference with my set up is that i have to have 2 screens. I use my second screen to look at pokertracker and to review hands histories while im playing.
If you get a situation where you have some big decisions on 2 tables then hit the time button on both. This works and to be honest doesnt come up as much as you would think. If you are looking to improve your game/hand reading skills then 1 table is fine. If you are looking to build a bankroll then multitabling is the way. |

Re: Why so many tables?
I don't play online anymore, but when I did I would nine table the Prima miniview tables. No problem.
Bonus whoring I've done as many as 12. It's really not that difficult. You just have to have to really good poker fundamentals, and be able to make 95% of decisions without thinking. Later in my online poker career I moved down to 6 tables, which allowed for music, msn, facebook, porn and any other distractions I liked to amuse myself with. |
