This ridiculously long break cannot help the Rockies. As hot as they are, I'm sure they would rather hop on a plane today and play them tonight.

All the series might be done tonight, and we'll be twiddling thumbs on Tuesday (watching NHL?).

Just so stupid.

I hope the Rockies and Boston go deep and there is snow in both places for games that come too close to November.

This sucks. Sweeping the A's and sitting for a week killed DET last year.

But in this case, both teams swept, and are off for the same number of days.

This year, Rox won the season series 10-8. They were 5-4 at home, and 5-4 in Arionza, and the other stats (.BA, ERA, etc.) favor the Rockies big time. Rockies in 6.

Rockies in 7. Webb will win two games and the Diamondbacks will pick up another game.

God I hope Rockies quickly sweep this humdrum D-backs team from everyone's misery...

How exactly do you consider the team with the best regular season record in the NL and a team that just swept the first round of the playoffs to be "humdrum"? If that is so, then what does that make the rest of the league?

[/ QUOTE ]

Man, this crap has to be a level.

Different sport, but didn't people say the same thing about the 2001 Patriots? They turned out to be a decent team after all, no?

I see the snobbery is out in force here.

Diamondbacks in 6.

There is no way that the Rockies will remain hitting as hot as they have. If they do, then more power to them.

They are hitting about as well as they have all season. The D-Backs, on the other hand can't hope to have .230 hitters coming through again and again for them.

The Rockies win streak is a joke. They padded it by playing lots of games with a team that quit (Dodgers) and two end of the year games that didn't matter to the DBacks. Their sweep of the Phillies was impressive but I like our chances.

Pythag is a measure of a teams performance throughout an entire season, it includes Carlos Quentin's futility as well as Randy Johnsons greatness, etc. But at this point in time I believe the DBacks offense is a little better than it's been during the season because the young guys are learning on the job. Chris Young has been on fire in the second half, Justin Upton is getting his sea legs, Drew is beginning to hit like he's expected to, and Reynolds has gone through some amazing hot and cold streaks that I think are teaching him how to hit at a major league level. Add to it that Conor Jackson has steadily improved all year, and I think you'll see more offense than you expect, and a better team than the Pythagorean theorem would lead you to believe.

Rockies win this. In seven, most likely.

btw, where's tuq? Or is he just trolling these threads, waiting for the Rox to lose a game so he can try to pounce with his Phillies hate?

Except, of course, that if they lose one of those games or one more of the 12 before, or the tiebreaker against SD, their season would have been over. But yeah, other than that, totally a joke.
