Again, my river play is poor
Live 10/20 full.
I limp 77 utg. 3 more limpers, blinds check. Flop is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3:spade. SB leads, BB folds, I raise, two folds, button calls two cold, SB calls. Turn 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB checks, I bet, both call. River is an A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB checks, this is an obvious bet right? |

Re: Again, my river play is poor
I don't know, I rpobably wouldn't bet here three way. Two I would but three I'd just check with one to act behind me.

I don't like it three ways. Heads up I think you should bet but checking behind here is good, IMO.

Re: Again, my river play is poor
How has the game been playing?
More particularly, do you have any reads on button? Is he the sort of player who will routinely call down with virtually nothing, or is he TAG-like? If the latter, than I think his cold-calling 2 bets on the flop smells like a possible flush or straight draw. Note that this didn't get there (unless he's waiting until the river to make a move with a turned straight), in which case I'd bet for value. I would easily agree with Strictly's check on the river if one (or both) of these players was looser than the girl I brought back from the bar the other night (read --> very). |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm inclined to check, especially if you are against passive players who'll call with any ace or against aggressive players that love to check-raise the river with their trips/sets/flushe/straights/fullhouses. The only time I will bet is if I could somehow entice a bigger pocketpair to fold or someone with a smaller pair to call. Otherwise you have nothing to gain by betting and much more to lose. Since the small blind came out firing, its more likely he has rags which this flop could hit and a potentially deadly turn card. |

Re: Again, my river play is poor
Lacking reads, but assuming these players are fairly average for the game, I'm betting. I think you're getting called by lots of 6s and 5s honestly, mostly from the SB. The button looks like a flush draw, but he could be a straight draw that now has a pair of sixes. He of course might have the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], but i mean....Yeah, I bet.

I think you bet because you can't overcall.

Re: Again, my river play is poor
Bet if you think you can safely fold to a raise (which I think you can, unless the players are unusually tricky). If you'd feel compelled to pay off a raise, then check.
