Re: Mental preparation?
Turn on the computer and log into FTP.
What else do you need to do? Stomp around the house screaming and foaming at the mouth until your heart rate is around 190? |

Re: Mental preparation?
it's a shame that this thread didn't get more serious responses. I think mental preparation is a serious and important aspect to successful sessions.
I for one make sure that I've tied up all of my loose ends for the day before sitting down to play, so that my attention will be focused on the game and not worrying about if i made that phone call, or wrote that email etc. Also, I'll find sometime that once I get home i feel frantic and rushed from the day, and have never booked a winning session if i start as such. I'll put on some music, have a bite to eat, watch TV for a bit and relax and slow down before starting to play. |

Re: Mental preparation?
I think its important to assess your attitude and your mental capacity, and if you feel your not 100 percent maybe study poker instead of playing it or play a little lower stakes than normal, and work your way up to your normal stakes as you become more and more in the "mindset" throughout your session. Maybe start off by reading an article or two or reviewing a session or something. Anything to get your mind on the right track cant hurt.

Re: Mental preparation?
I make sure that I've eaten. I make sure that I've been away for at least a few hours. I spend some time reading websites online to put myself in the mindset of thinking while looking at a computer screen.

Re: Mental preparation?
Mostly I do nothing, but I do check my mental state. If I feel like I’m in the zone, I play, if not, I don't. If it is a tourney that I have already allotted time and money to play, then I do as others suggest and read some of my notes, call a poker buddy and talk poker, and always make a pre decision to play every hand as best as I can, and hawk every hand played whether im in it or not.

Re: Mental preparation?
If you are addicted to poker like I am, being mentally prepared shouldn't be a big deal unless you are tired. If this is the case, do something else. My biggest problem is to be mentally prepared for anything else than poker.
