Re: quick maybe dumb qustieon
Not as dumb as other questions, FWIW.
IMO, if you've got a commonly duplicated nut low (A2 and A3 especially) and it is 3 way or HU and your high sucks, you don't have any reason to bet and raise. Four way or better and you won't generally lose money betting it. If your nut low is a backdoor goofball, (ie you have A24, and the A or 2 is counterfeited on the turn, but you still have the nuts) you'll generally want to 'go to town'. FWIW - I've been giving out some really crappy advice lately. Grain of salt. |

[/ QUOTE ]LivePlaya - No. If all you have is the low and it's evident your opponent will not be chased out of the pot, you have to start being concerned about getting quartered. The primary reason you raise with the nut low is tactical. Your object is to chase your opponents out of the pot and thus win high by default. If you can see this (or any) tactic won't work, then don't do it. Buzz |

Re: quick maybe dumb qustieon
Often, if you are HU with the nut low it is ideal to pound it. Pounding a low is most +EV when (1) there is a chance you can induce a fold, (2) there is a chance, however remote, that you can get 3/4, (3) there is very little chance that you are being quartered, and (4) the rake is already maxed out.
If you have A2 for nut low against a tight opponent, that is not one of those times. Know your opponent. If you have reason to think you are being quartered, c/c or even folding is sometimes proper if the pot is small. |

Re: quick maybe dumb qustieon
If heads-up with the low and the rake is already maxed, or at least close to being so, pound it for all the reasons Truthiness explained above.
If there is 3-way or more action check/calling is the way to go. You'll get quartered more often than chasing out someone. Its' -EV with 3 or more in. In that situation smaller bets are the better play as it will keep the second nut around, big bets will (should) lose them. |
