Default How much would an aspiring pro bring to vegas

Not that I have any intention of doing this, but, I was wondering what your typical wannabe brings to Vegas to start a poker career, assuming that he's gonna rent a crappy apartment when he gets there.

I recently spoke to someone who lives there. Apparently, it's very expensive.

well if he plans to play 2/5 NL or 10/20 limit (which I believe are the lowest stake where you can make a living without having to play 15h/day) its at least 10K.

Out of curiosity, with so many internet games available right here on los internets, why would you move your life around for a game?

i think that you can be more profitable seeing more hands in an hour and tracking your oppenents to a tee.....

why see 30 hands an hour max when you can see ten times that and track the other players as you play

Well, it's a question of win rates and varience.

Will you make more per hour set mining 400NL on 8 tables vs other semi-pros, or playing just one table of 5/10 and paying your full attention to a bunch of drunk tourists?

And what will have less varience? If you're a full time pro doing this for a living then less varience is a huge plus.

I'd say if you were planning to move to Vegas and play 5/10 NL for a living (and I DO plan to do that eventually) then you'd need a BR of 50 buy-ins plus 6 months of living expences socked away.

I figure someone can do this for $75,000.00, but I figure I need $100,000.00 since I also plan to follow the WPT & WSOP tours and play in the high stakes side games that go on during the tournaments. So I need 6 months of airfare & hotel in advance on top of the 75k.
