$3.40 First level, button w/ limpers... what do I call with?
Does this matter either way on level one? This is a really standard question, probably not too useful. I'm never going broke with top pair or even losing anything more, usually if two people have a hand it'll be bet/raised before it gets back to me. It doesn't seem like t20 will help me much later.
I may get in trouble with OESD's and flush draws (not with this hand but if they were suited). So, is there something I should do here standard or does limping a whole lot of hands in this situation make sense..? standard play. make sure you play well post flop if you're going to be making this play frequently

Re: $3.40 First level, button w/ limpers... what do I call with?
12-tabling I'm auto-folding this as soon as I see it. Suited, I may limp behind depending on how many limp before me, and I may also complete with it with >4 limpers (9:1 odds). Here, though, you're only getting 5:1 assuming the SB limps and neither blinds raise. 5:1 is compelling, but after the flop you're too often in a top pair/worse kicker situation. Saving yourself 20 chips preflop will also save you 1500 chips when you stack off to KJ.
You need to hit the flop super hard or be super good to make playing these kinds of hands profitable. |

Or just not go broke when you hit your sole Jack in a 5-6 handed pot.

If you don't play JT because you can't handle non-TPTK, then learn to handle those sitautions. JTo is easily profitable here, especially at $3.40.

Saving yourself 20 chips preflop will also save you 1500 chips when you stack off to KJ. [/ QUOTE ]Heh. Nah, I'm never going broke. If one player bets into a Jack high flop and everyone folds I may peel one more off and fold to further aggression. That's the end of it though. Usually in the $3.40's with so many players in pot it'll be bet/raised/shoved before it even gets to me on button, lol. So if JTo is profitable here, how weak can we go? Any suited connector too? I assume Axo is a fold. Axs call too. Am I right in all of these? |
