Default River shove with KK, Yay or Nay ($50NL)

From memory

Villian is 24/10 after about 60 hands, seemed like your typical weak player, effective stack is $55 with me covering villian, no other reads.

I have KK in CO, raise to $2 when folded to me. Villain calls.

Flop is 772 rainbow, I bet $3.25, villian calls.

Turn is a J, I bet $8 into an $11 pot, villian calls.

River is a T, I check, villian bets $16, I shove.

i donīt think the shove is the right line here. you def innately have to call his raise there since you check makes him believe you have nothing. a seven seems unlickely but wheve seen worse plays.

i think that villain will call you here with a AJs, or a 7 possible 88-99 but that is not the type of villain to bet out with.

i think your shove makes him fold al his bluffs and makes him call with almost only hands that beat you. only a high jack can make such a play. however the flop call would be weird.

Just call the river, as said before, a shove doesn't fold any hands that beat you or keep any hands that are worse in.

I was hoping to get max value from a AJ,KJ,QJ,JT,AT and possibly 99 & QQ -- I thought 7 would have spoken up by at least the turn. I don't see how any of those but the 99 walk away so easily...I am running 28/24 myself

Not sure I get the reason for the "lol" subject line, is my play really that atrocious here?

You mentioned that he was a typical weak player. That kind of player is checking probably that entire range behind on the turn killing any value of shoving.

But no one is checking the turn here...was I too optimistic thinking hands like AJ and JT would float my c-bet? I have not played cash hold'em for several months (been spewing at PLO and tournies) so I am rusty.

Its been said, but he should check behind hands you beat. Even calling here might be bad, though I'm not telling you to fold.
The only way this would be good is if he was floating with JT and hit runner runner 2 pair.
