When are you pot committed on the flop with AAxx?
Micro stakes (.25/.50) PLO. I'm new to PLO.
It's raised the pot by UTG+1. 1 caller, I'm on CO with AAxx rainbow. First question. Should I raise the pot here? Second question. Assume I raised and got one caller, the initial raiser. The flop is a really innocuous 357r and he leads for the pot, leaving him $4 left in a pot that's about $35 now. Easy call (well, shove him in)? These are probably basic questions, but finding any real meat strategy articles about PLO hasn't been easy. |

Re: When are you pot committed on the flop with AAxx?
Rolf Slotboom's book will help you understand the stack depth issues, and that's what the answer to your question depends on.
As opponent seems to be shallow, you have to ask yourself if his hand is likely to be better than yours ie. would he raise pot without a premium AAxx hand? Probably re-raise and get him AI pre-flop, but you want to see something like KKxx. |

Re: When are you pot committed on the flop with AAxx?
If you can get around 30% of yours or your opponents stack in preflop with AAxx, and stack off on any flop your opponent cannot get the best of you. (They will not hit enough flops hard to beat you, plus they will slightly hit other flops and be priced in to get the rest of the money in.)
So basically, if there is around 1 or just over 1 pot sized bet left, you can get it in the middle on any flop, which seems to be the case here. |
