A STT theory question.... When percentags are close to equal
I have many of the tools that are spoken of in this forum which tell me how to play based on winning/losing percentages. My qustion comes is in the area of what to do when it is close to equal (low fifties percentagewise...) Say if I am on the bubble and the tool says I will win 51% of the time. Do the situations of the game ever cause you to hedge these numbers. Another example would be deciding on whether or not to push the third time in a row. Just thinking out loud here - what do you all do when the play becomes a coin flip?

Is 'ICM' not just what you're looking for, or is there something I'm missing?

Re: A STT theory question.... When percentags are close to equal
playing the bubble is the most important part in SnG's
ICM calculation is very important but they have to be correct or close to correct calculated in the sense of fold equity and steal equity. if you are facing maniacs then the ICM calculation wont help you much since they will call a puch with any pair, any A, any K, and any 2 cards higher then T. If your tool whatever it is tell you that you are 51% fevorite, then you can push on the shortstacks, coz you dont want to be called by the bigstack who can get you out. |

Re: A STT theory question.... When percentags are close to equal
Read the FAQ, but what I was alluding to earlier is that there are lots of spots in SNGs where you may be a 51% favorite to win a hand, but you should fold anyway because dealing in terms of prize pool equity instead of chip equity, its a -EV spot.
Id recommend reading the ICM section of the FAQ and checking out the links within. |
