I dont have a clue
Terry G a reg opens early. He is hard to describe. He varies from weak tight to loose passive though lately Ive seen decent aggression out of him. Anyway, Roxy (decent but coldcalls with speculative hands too much) coldcalls and I call in the bb w/ 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Flop:8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] checked through. Turn:T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, Terry raises, Roxy coldcalls, I? |

Re: I dont have a clue
if you 3 bet i dont think your gona get 4 bet by a set so its a pretty safe line if your guys weak tight/passive.

Re: I dont have a clue
you 3 bet. the board is way too scary for any hand non nuts to cap. you get tons of value out of overpairs/ace high flush draws, and can safely fold your hand UI on the river if it gets capped.
also forgot to mention the +ev overlay with roxy coldcalling in between. |

Re: I dont have a clue
Let's talk about the flop. Please lead out so you can 3-bet. There are several good reasons for this:
a) Gets more $$ into the pot if you get to 3-bet; whereas checkraising stops the action at 2 bets b) Avoids the flop getting checked through c) When Terry predictably raises, Roxy has to pay 2sb to see a turn with a "speculative hand" like QJ/JT that has outs against you. d) Makes the turn a bit easier to play, perhaps |

Re: I dont have a clue
what about on the flop when you get to c/r, 4 bet pj?
ive began to realize that donking in these games is a very profitable play, i really need to work on that for my trip back to the park. i agree that this seems like a good donking opportunity though. |

Re: I dont have a clue
Well 2 pair is a more vulnerable hand than, say, a set, so in this situation I wouldn't mind getting rid of Roxy by having Terry raise the flop donk and charge Roxy with 2 cold. If we had 99, checkraise/4-betting would be fine. 2 pair plays better HU against a PFR than against 2 other players, who have many more chances to counterfeit/draw out on us.

Re: I dont have a clue
this is kinda nutty spot but I think you have to grit your teeth and 3-bet. I just don't see how QJ would ever check that flop but I know for sure AT/KT might. As a nice side effect, live players like to lay hands down so you might even get one of these hands that have 8 outs against you to fold.

Re: I dont have a clue
Mitch, I understand why you checked the flop. It is very unusual for Terry to not make a continuation bet, especially A high. He rarely slow plays (eg, a set). Would not be unlike him to open with QJ, however. Roxy turned a spade draw or she has AJ.
I'd three bet here. Find out if Terry has the nuts. Make Roxy pay the maximum. You most likely have six outs if you are behind. Btw, vmacosta, no one at CP would ever lay down a hand with 8 outs! |
