reads? and i think you need to raise more

New to the table. No read on MP1. UTG+1 had just won a huge pot to get his big stack and was starting to get a bit overaggro.

.. squeeze's are read based.. if you dont know this guy is opening loose, and you don't know MP2 knows taht, then what are you basing this on? just that you have an ace, and randomly don't want to believe him?

I think you posted this when I was posting mine. With this info, you just cannot make this move. Period. It is very much -EV. Particularly with a weak Ace but I wouldn't do this unless I had a good sense that the raiser was a bit aggro and the caller a bit loose.

if you raise the same hands to 1500 as you would to 2000, raising to 2000 will have more fold equity.

The most essential read that you need to have is that the opener is opening light because the caller most likely has a weak hand or else he would've re-rasied.

All,

As I mentioned, UTG+1 was getting overaggro and was raising light. Also, 5xBB was his standard opener.

The fact that I had a suited ace really didn't play much in my thinking here but for the fact that I thought it stood a pretty good chance of being ahead of UTG+1 (not that it mattered since I was looking for a fold). Also, I figured that MP1's stack was such that any hand that would call or push behind the raise would have 3-bet initially.

Also, this is probably going to make this play even worse, it was in one of the $1 MTTs on Stars.

lol yes. that makes the play worse.

My money play in those use to be to open push my premium hands w/ 50+BB stacks.

Beecause people don't fold.
