Default planning on spending $10k in Europe next year

I have $4k now and I'm saving up another $6k over the next few months. I'm keeping it in an online savings account earning 5%. I'll be spending all of it in euros next year, and I'm alarmed by all the buzz about the dollar sucking. Should I be? Are there any steps I can take to make sure my $10k is worth about the same (plus a reasonable amount of interest) next year as it is now?
